約9ヶ月ぶりの英会話。

ノンネイティブプランでやった。

口の動きが悪いのがよく分かった。

2024年10月の事故以来、スタミナの回復が遅い。昨年の8月から職場では杖を使わなくなったが、筋トレ💪を始めたため、それで体力を取られている感じ。

What are your thoughts on the study's findings?の質問に対しては、

という答えを用意したが、咄嗟にはここまで素敵な英語は出なかったが、なんとか通じたようだ。

fragmentは名詞の「破片」が有名だが、動詞もある。

動詞としてのfragmentには、自動詞の「バラバラになる」以外に他動詞の「バラバラにする」がある。

これを機会にしっかり覚えておこう。

滅び行く家族経営商店中小企業

本日のお題は、再開発の煽りを受けた昔ながらの商店街がその歴史を閉じるというお話。

私はその手の話、惜しみもしないし、同情もしない。

It's hard to tell from this photo, but in reality, many stores had already closed their shutters.

もう、再開発の話が出る前から廃業している店は少なくなかった。

I think it is difficult for us to continue managing family-run stores.

It is easy for us to be employed rather than to employ others.

Because labor shortage is a serious issue in Japan.

I myself have adapted my dreams to suit this situation.

I gave up my dream of running a private tutoring school and instead decided to live my life as a teacher.

日本の家族経営商店や中小企業が、高度経済成長期に元気だった理由は、人件費がメチャ安かったからなんだよ。

社長サンは、めっちゃ少ない従業員しかいないのに、その彼ら・彼女らをこき使いながら、人件費を削りまくって、「オレは会社経営者だぞー」と「交際費」名目でスナックで散財する。

そんな小人物社長サンが多かったのさ。

私の父はその典型。

後継者がいなかったワケではない。

小学生のときから私は継ぐって言ってたのに、娘の言葉を信じようとしなかった。

バブルにかこつけて（祖父から受け継いだ）工場の敷地を高く売ろうとしていた。

「値段が動き出したら売ろうと思っているんだ」と口ぐせのように言っていた。

ところがだー。

グズグズしているウチにバブル弾けちゃった。

チャンチャン🤣🤣🤣

外国人嫌い

石破首相の写真。あーでも、もう少しで「石破前首相」になっちゃうのかなー？

今日のDMM 英会話で使った記事は、自公連立与党が衆参両院で過半数割っちゃったというお話だった。写真もDMMのもの。参政党の躍進についても触れていた。xenophobic（ゼネフォービック。外国人嫌いの）って形容詞、初めて知った。

Recently, many Japanese voters have tended to be in favor of candidates making xenophobic comments.

I am concerned about this tendency.

閉回路テレビとは何？

本日のお題は、韓国の女子高校生の親と教師が結託して教員室のテスト用紙を盗んだことが発覚して逮捕されたというお話。

それにしても、

それ最初にいったら、native 講師が大笑い🤣だった。

私が今回の記事で最も気になったのが

CCTV という単語。

CCTV means closed-circuit-television.

It is a local network camera for security purposes.

要はインターネット等で外に繋がらない防犯用等のカメラのことで、

日本語では「閉回路テレビ」と呼ぶそうだ。

施設管理人とこの盗難事件ではグルで、防犯用カメラの記録を消去できたのは、閉回路だったからということだ。

賞品は佃煮

本日のお題は、伝統的製法を守る佃煮屋さんの親子二代のお話。

私は普段佃煮は食べない。だが…

I once came in third in a table tennis tournament and received a lot of tsukudani as a prize.

I couldn't throw it away, so I ended up eating tsukudani as a side dish in my lunch box every day for a week.

あれ以来、佃煮は食べていないなぁ。

横須賀市の位置

本日のお題は、東京の地代高騰の煽りを受けて、本社を首都東京から近隣の県に移す会社が増えたというお話。

At first, I intended to talk about the shortage of doctors in Japan.

The touter knew the name of the Yokosuka City.

But he didn't know the location of the city.

We talked about the location of Yokosuka City, and at the end, I drew a simple map for him.

迷走するタイの政局

本日のお題は、タイ政府が一旦解禁したはずのレクレーション用マリファナを再禁止したというお話。

Thailand had a new prime minister last year.

I thought the change in government influenced the policy change.

But Thailand's Constitutional Court has now decided to suspend Prime Minister Shinawatra from his duties.

Thailand's politics are unstable.

政策の変更と再禁止は関係なさそうだね。

私の予想を上回るタイの政局の不安定さ。　ついていけない。
